Barrington Offers Spacious Lots with Short Pump Conveniences

One of the crowning jewels of Richmond’s West End, Barrington is a luxurious subdivision situated south of Broad Street in Short Pump, Virginia. This subdivision is accessible via Church Road, and the main entrance is on Barrington Bridge Place. You will not see large, prominent signage advertising the subdivision; rather, mature trees and plantings surrounding the brick walls and let the beauty of nature speak for itself, while a small plaque notes the subdivision’s name. This foliage is a hallmark all throughout Barrington, adding privacy and allowing the homes to feel as though they were built into nature.

Once inside Barrington, there are a total of three subdivisions: Barrington, Barrington Valley and Barrington West, all of which are served by zip code 23233. Even so, there are a small number of houses within the neighborhood – just over 120. Barrington includes 45, there are 49 in Barrington Valley and Barrington West boasts 29. The Homes

Barrington is made up of single-family homes exclusively, and large single-family homes at that. The bulk of houses throughout this subdivision were built in the 1990s, though there have been additions and new construction projects since. While all built in more traditional styles, the structures offer varying architectural designs, including Georgian, Colonial, Tudor, Federal and Transitional styles. Houses range from approximately 3,000 square feet to well-over 6,000 square feet and include things that modern buyers find attractive, such as open floor plans. And the space does not end once you hit the back door; instead, the houses in Barrington enjoy large lot sizes that give homeowners ample space to get outside. Soaring oak trees and professional landscaping throughout the subdivision only add to the privacy each lot conveys. The homes for sale in Barrington, Short Pump, VA range vastly in price, and as such, buyers can expect to spend between $500,000 and $2 million to purchase a house in this subdivision.

    The Perks

All three of Barrington’s individual subdivisions are built around a common lake. This provides private waterfront access for many of the homes within the neighborhood, a perk that cannot be beat. Even those that do not live along the shoreline have water access, thanks to the communal dock in the subdivision. This means that fishing, swimming and other water activities are all possible right within Barrington.

Residents that enjoy a slow flow of traffic and streets that are safe to walk along appreciate the cul-de-sacs throughout Barrington’s three subdivisions. The lack of through-roads in the neighborhood reduces the amount of incoming traffic, so most of the cars within Barrington belong to the homeowners. Further, the cul-de-sacs are not crowded with homes, as there are typically only three surrounding them. This furthers the idyllic seclusion that residents pay for.

Barrington, Barrington West and Barrington Valley all host their own homeowners associations to oversee the maintenance and consistency of these elements and more throughout the subdivisions.

    The Location

Being located in Short Pump means one thing: retail opportunities. Interestingly, this neighborhood was not built for this reason; Barrington was actually founded prior to the big construction boom in this area – serendipity. While still remaining tranquil and secure, this subdivision is situated less than 10 minutes from Short Pump Town Center, which has become a mecca for customers seeking shopping, dining and entertainment. West Broad Village is even closer, at just over 5 minutes from Barrington. With Whole Foods, Homegoods and much more to choose from, West Broad Village is an invaluable asset to the area. Of course, there are several other shopping centers, a handful of hotels and even charming local stores to choose from when traveling through Short Pump, and residents of Barrington have quick access to them all.

Interstate 64 is 3 1/2 miles from the subdivision, Interstate 295 is just a little further out at 5 miles and Interstate 95 is also accessible, at 11 miles from Barrington. Residents are approximately 20 minutes north of the James River, while all the opportunities of Richmond are just 25 minutes southeast. Barrington offers the best of both worlds: quiet and accessibility.
